The Role of a Home Care Assistant
Being a Care Assistant means you need to be adaptable, able to put others first and have the person at the centre of everything you do in your role. Our care assistants cover all aspects of support for our customers such as:
- Personal Care – assisting with washing, showering, dressing and maintaining personal appearance·
- Housekeeping – washing up, vacuuming, and general light cleaning
- Companionship – developing relationships with our customers
- Meal Preparation – preparing and serving meals
- Medication assistance and medical support
- Running errands – shopping and collecting prescriptions/medication
- Mobility– assisting safe movement around the home
You do not need experience to be a home care assistant at South Northants Home Care. We are looking for people with the right personal skills, we can teach you the rest. To succeed in a caring role you will need to be:
- An excellent communicator
- Possess a genuine caring nature with a desire to help others
- Be able to work as part of a team and as an individual
- Be compassionate and kind
- Have a desire to learn
You will need to be flexible in your working hours. All of our staff work a mixture of morning, evenings and alternate weekends. Our shift patterns are:
Mornings: 7am – 2:30 pm
Evenings: 4pm – 11pm

This role involves travelling between clients, drivers essential.
